How this Fabric is Made:

Hand block print fabric is made using a traditional and labor-intensive technique that involves the following steps:

Design Creation: Skilled artisans create intricate designs on paper or fabric, which serve as templates for the block carving process.
Block Carving: Artisans carve the designs onto wooden blocks. Each block represents a specific element of the pattern.
Fabric Preparation: The fabric, typically cotton or silk, is pre-washed and prepared to ensure it is free from any impurities and ready for printing.
Dye Preparation: Natural or synthetic dyes are mixed, creating a color palette according to the desired design.
Block Printing: The fabric is stretched onto a flat printing table. Ink or dye is applied to the carved wooden block, which is then pressed firmly onto the fabric. The artisan repeats this process systematically to create the desired pattern. Each block represents a different part of the design, and they are used in a specific sequence to ensure the pattern aligns correctly.
Drying and Fixing: After printing, the fabric is left to dry in the open air. Depending on the type of dye used, some fabrics may require fixing through heat or chemical processes to ensure colorfastness.
Washing and Finishing: Once dried, the fabric is washed to remove excess dye and any residual impurities. It is then pressed or ironed to give it a finished look.

Washing instructions:

Wash with mild or liquid detergents, either by hand or in a washing machine, separately.
To prevent color fading, avoid using hot water.
Dry the fabric in the shade for best results.
